„I was lucky to have been able to study for 5 years (2008-2013) with the help of ESF-Germany at Kindu University, Democratic Republic of Congo. I graduated after 3 years with an Agronomy diploma in hand and then studied 2 more years in the Natural Resources Management Department (specialization in Fauna and Flora) in order to obtain a «Licence» diploma. I am proud today to be an engineer in Agronomy.
It has been hard to get started in a professional career but I managed to get short term contracts that made use of the scientific knowledge that I have acquired in Biodiversity and Forestry project supported by German funds in DR of Congo. I also have been hired as a lab assistant in a private university. I opened up a small technology service company just to have ends meet and managed a 3-month internship in the Project Management Department of a commercial bank.
The social project I developed with Etudes sans frontières still lacks resources to get started – and anyone who can help with the funding is welcome – but has rallyed a lot of support in Kailo territory (Maniema province where Kindu is located). The name of the project is Agropastoral pour le développement and its aim is to help small farmers get more returns out of their labour. I also broadcast as a volunteer information briefs on ecology and sound management of the environment in a local radio station. This is what I’ve been doing for the most part since I finished my degree at Kindu University.
All in all, I can only say THANK YOU ESF-Germany!“
